Series-vs-Map Handicap Coherence

A best-of-three series and its map-handicap market are two views of the same thing: to win 2-0 you must win both maps, so the handicap price and the series price are linked by simple arithmetic once you assume a per-map win rate. Esports books frequently price the series carefully and the handicap lazily. You solve for the per-map rate implied by each and trade the leg whose implied rate is out of line.

What you need to run it

  • Model linking per-map win probability to series and handicap prices for each format
  • Simultaneous capture of series, handicap and individual map markets
  • Adjustment for map-specific strength, since maps are not identically weighted

Where this applies

Markets on Polymarket where series-vs-map handicap coherence is the natural play:

  • Will Team Vitality win their next CS2 series?
  • Will Vitality win the series 2-0?
  • Will the underdog win at least one map?
